ARCHIVE: 29.5" Bushi 1095 Satsuma II Custom Katana - SOLD
Price per Unit (piece):
$0.00
The Satsuma was a fiercely loyal clan to the Shogunate. When the Meiji government disbanded the Samurai, they fought until the very end at great cost to themselves and those who opposed them. The Satsuma was very much associated with the color red, and many of their members equipped specially wrapped tsukas. Japan was finally seeing field battles after centuries of small conflicts, so battle wraps (katate-maki) were making a reappearance.
This blade features a re-polished 29.5" 1095 Bushi class blade, an elegantly marbled red lacquer saya, and a black silk Katate-Maki. The Koshirae is a Mokko Vine theme, and the Menuki and Habaki are copper plated.
