The Japanese have always been efficient in one way or another, and O-Suriage is one such example. When a blade was damaged beyond repair, often times they were cut down shorter. Katanas became Wakizashi, Wakizashi became Tanto, and sometimes Yari and Naginata blades were fashioned into mounted pieces. This O-Tanto is inspired by a Unokubi-style Naginata blade but mounted as a Tanto.
The forge-folded Bushi Tanto has been completely repolished using Hazuya and Jizuya stones to accent the Hada and bring out the Hamon. The Seppa and Habaki were plated in pure silver. The Tsuka core has a full wrap of stingray skin. The notable point of this blade is the Tsukamaki in black silk. It is a Katahineri Maki, very similar to a Tsunami Maki, but the under-wrap is twisted rather than just pinched. The Tsunami Maki is perhaps the most popular style Tsukamaki in Nihonto short of the standard Hineri Maki.
