The "Green Vine" Katana is a 28.5 inch Bushi class 1095 high-carbon blade designed for the art of Tameshigiri. The thick and broad blade has a high Shinogi taper that reduces the overall weight, but still retains a manageable heft desired for heavy cutting. The blade was polished to brighten the hamon pattern, but still left in a Tameshigiri polish to reduce the presence of scratches left from cutting exercises. The colors chosen were inspired by forest ivy. The grey green Japanese-imported Tsuka-Ito and matching Sageo mirrors the lighter center portion of the ivy leaf, and the darker green saya matches the darker green of the outer leaf and the vine. The dark green lacquer has a faint speckled finish which resembles a Saya with crushed malachite in the lacquer, a popular style in many Nihonto. The Koshirae has also been heavily polished to a glossy shine and then blackened to give it a dark and icy appearance.
